Okaloosa-Walton Child Care Services, through funding from the Early Learning Coalition of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, offers financial assistance to eligible families so that they can obtain affordable, quality child care. Children birth through 12 years of age and children with special needs birth through 17 years of age may be eligible. Eligibility requirements are based on total family income with adults within the household working at least 20 hours per week. To begin receiving School Readiness funding assistance, combined earnings, including all sources of income, may not exceed 150% of the Federal Poverty Level. Families may also be referred for child care funding assistance by appropriate community agencies.

Local School Readiness funding is limited by the Agency for Workforce Innovation allocation of School Readiness funds determined yearly. Unfortunately, due to limited funding, funding is not always immediately available to families that qualify. If funds are not available families are placed on a waiting list and served as funds become available. Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) services will provide you with important consumer information to assist with your child care program search.
A list of child care programs, (referrals) based on your individual child care needs, will be computer generated and sent to you for program selection purposes.
After visiting the programs and meeting the staff, you can then make an informed decision concerning selecting your child's program.
